Polly Trottenberg to give keynote address at Sustainable Transport Award Ceremony

Polly Trottenberg, Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy, US Department of Transportation, will deliver the keynote address at the 2011 Sustainable Transport Award ceremony on Monday, January 24th. Her presence underlines the growing importance of the award, as more and more cities worldwide demonstrate innovation in transport planning and delivery.

Enrique Peñalosa, President of ITDP and former Mayor of Bogota, will act as Master of Ceremonies. Each of the nominated cities – Guangzhuo, Lima, Leon, Nantges, Tehran – will be represented by senior dignatories.

The Sustainable Transport Award is given annually to the city that made most progress over the year to increase mobility for all residents while reducing transportation greenhouse and air pollution emissions and improving safety and access for cyclists and pedestrians. The award winner will be announced on January 24, 2011. The official award ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
